Beer for Dessert

Another business trip in Harrisburg means another dinner at Lancaster Brewing Company. This time, I was convinced into drinking a “Chocolate Covered Strawberry” with dinner, though I would have been better off having it for dessert. “What is a ‘Chocolate Covered Strawberry’,” you ask. Here goes…

Two of LBC’s great year round brews, Strawberry Wheat and Milk Stout, are combined in a pint glass and drizzled with chocolate liquor. Tasty? Sure is. Decadent? You bet your sweet little behind!

It tastes just as advertised, like a strawberry dipped in chocolate. Rich and chewy, thick and creamy, it is safe to say it is the 2nd best dessert beer I have had (Southern Tier Creme Brulee Stout being #1). It was a tad too decadent for dinner (I also ate decadently with their Lobster Mac ‘N Cheese), but I can’t say I didn’t enjoy it thoroughly.

If you don’t have the chance to head to an LBC location, here’s what to do… grab an LBC Variety Pack (also features 2 other great beers in Amish Four Grain Ale and Hop Hog IPA), pour a pint a of half Milk Stout and half Strawberry Wheat, then drizzle some chocolate syrup on top. A great dessert… you won’t be disappointed.
