Mixtape: 2 are Better Than 1

It’s FINALLY that time… the big REVEAL is finally here! And more free tunes, to boot!

Starting with the contest winner and the runner up, this mixtape is a salute to The Prids, the great band that inspired this contest. Enjoy all the tracks, I know I do!

1. The winner of the contest! Sulfur – Just Wait is a different take on The Prids “I’ll Wait”, one where hip hop and indie rock collide. Sean Church, the brains behind this entry, wins a copy of The Prids’ album on vinyl and a $50 shopping spree from the Velvet Blue Music store.

2. The runner up! Awakening Mercury – I’ll Wait is indie rocker Luke Eccles’s take on the track. He wins a copy of the album on CD. Check out more of Awakening Mercury‘s tracks below.

3. The Fair Weathered – Planets is the first of two free tracks by The Fair Weathered of Columbus, Ohio. So what if they’re from Ohio? They still rock! (Just a joke, I have nothing against Ohio, I promise)

4. The Fair Weathered – Heavy States is the second free track from the Ohio trio. Check out this interview with the band on AbsolutePunk.net.

5. Christ Addams – Bender Blender is a hot new leak from the upcoming album by Mr. Addams. As with everything else that he does, the production is tight.

6. Christ Addams – Head Space Rock is the most kick ass track on Oil (download the entire album free here). Holla!

7. Heinali and Matt Finney – A Beginning is the opener from Lemonade, the second collaboration between these two artists.

8. Heinali and Matt Finney – Sweet Sixteen is another great track from Lemonade. Fans of ambient music need to give this a listen.

9. Awakening Mercury – Rest With the Angels (Acoustic) is an EXCLUSIVE acoustic version of the track from AW’s LP. Great song, great version, great artist.

10. Awakening Mercury – Anatomy of a Murder (Acoustic) is another EXCLUSIVE version for thepaintedman.com. Awakening Mercury is weel worth a listen or six.
